Kickoff meeting 2022

Timeline

  • Monday, Aug. 29: Recruitment begins

  • Monday, Sept. 5: Challenge training materials released

  • Friday, Sept. 9: Application closes, samples due

  • Sept. 12-15: Interviews held

  • Now - Friday, Sept. 16:

    • Clean up and release our product from last year. This will be Navigator 1.2. Everything after will become Navigator 2.0.
    • Conduct literature review for everything in our system: Object tracking, motion planning, control, and so on.
      • We will compile a full list of all notable papers.
  • Monday, Sept. 19: New membership announced, challenge opens

  • w/o September 19: Papers compared, approaches selected

  • Nov. 7: Challenge closes

  • Nov. 10: Challenge results released

  • All of Fall semester: Vehicle interface group will conduct a vehicle overhaul, include stress testing, sensor calibration, and the development of maintenance and safety checklists.

  • All of Spring semester: Demo 2 and beyond! By now, both our hardware and software have received major overhauls, and now we reap the rewards.

    • We're in a space race with autonomous cars in DFW and on campus.

  • Help review sample submissions (not just for core developer applicants, but for all positions)

    • We will score code submissions using a rubric. This scale is outlined on our Join page.
