2017b toolchains

• Not big changes since last telco
• GCC 6.4.0 has been merged https://github.com/easybuilders/easybuild-easyconfigs/pull/4794
• foss/2017b https://github.com/easybuilders/easybuild-easyconfigs/pull/4768
  • Still on hold waiting for OpenBLAS 0.2.20 (should be released this week: https://github.com/xianyi/OpenBLAS/issues/1223)
• intel/2017b
  • good to go, but should be released in sync with foss
• Fotis: You have to consider all the things that needs to be compatible. The more things you want to keep compatible the lower the version of GCC is going to be.
• Davide: We are constraint by CUDA, we will stick to 2016b.

EasyBuild v3.3.1

• No new issues for framework or easyblocks
• Minor new issues in the easyconfigs repo

New small framework features coming

• Backup of existing modules (https://github.com/easybuilders/easybuild-framework/pull/2134)
  • Useful for adding properties, footers or load messages after installing software
  • Shahzeb, Fotis: Useful for modifying licenses, headers, etc.
• Integration with Lmod and userInGroup (https://github.com/easybuilders/easybuild-framework/pull/2274)
  • Provides a more robust and detailed check when loading a module built for a particular group
  • Davide: you can allow custom messages in the easyconfig, overloading the group easyconfig parameter.

JSC public repo

• JSC released their EB repo (https://github.com/easybuilders/JSC)
  • Contains easyconfigs, module naming schemes, easyblocks, toolchains and general setup with custom modules
