Workshop project

David Goedicke edited this page Jul 6, 2022 · 1 revision

For the next couple of days, we will assist workshop participants in projects using neural nets for audio of their own design. We will help you scope projects for the time we have. Of course, we cannot guarantee success; however, we can get you on your way towards your passion projects, with some tangible results.

Seed ideas

No ideas on what to do? Here are some ideas that David and I have that we think would be fun:

Playing with the tools

  • Try different CNNs or other models besides ResNet18
  • Experiment with other color spectrum mappings for the Spectrographs
  • Experiment with using standard Spectrograms instead of Mel Frequency Spectrograms
  • Compare using the Stanford Sounds Dataset to UrbanSound (or UrbanSound+Stanford Sounds)

Applications

  • Make a recognizer that can tell if people are saying yes or no
  • Make a program that can play Audio Blackjack
  • Make a program that can hear numbers people say.
  • Make a program that can distinguish different flavors of noise (white noise, pink noise, gray noise, etc)

Find your team

After lunch, we will have people pitch ideas that they have for projects, and team up.

Make a branch of the Github repository for your project

This will make it easier for you to use the tools we've provided but take things in the direction your project demands!

Project Show and Tell

Project show and tell is planned for Friday after lunch, before the closing Happy Hour.
