One of the first things you should do when first launching Mizuu is to add movie and TV show content. It's a quite simple process, and this brief tutorial will guide you through it.

Steps

Step #1

The following screen is shown when your movie or TV show library is empty.

Press the "Update library" button (the one with a refresh icon) to start adding content.

Step #1

Step #2

This screen allows you to both start a library update as well as select the file sources to include in such a library update.

Press the "Select file sources" button to go to the next step.

Step #2

Step #3

You're now presented with an overview of file sources. File sources are folder paths that Mizuu include in its library updates. These folder paths are scanned for content when the application updates the libraries.

If you haven't yet added any file sources, press the plus button at the top right of the screen.

Step #3

Step #4

This screen allows you to add a new file source. First, select if you want to add a folder containing movies or TV shows. Secondly, select the location of the folder. You can currently choose between local content, network content on a SMB share or network content on a DLNA/UPnP share.

In this case, I want to add a folder containing movies and the content is located on my device. Press "Continue" when ready.

NOTE: If you select content on a SMB or DLNA/UPnP network share, you will have to connect to the share within Mizuu before being able to browse the contents of the network share.

Step #4

Step #5

A file browser will appear and you will be able to browse to the folder you want to add. You can navigate up the file system by pressing the Back button.

When you have navigated to the folder you want to add, simply press the "Add folder as file source" menu option.

Step #5

Step #6

When you've successfully added your file source, you'll be taken back to the overview of file sources. Once satisfied with your file sources, press the Back button.

Step #6

Step #7

You're now ready to start a library update, which will cause Mizuu to scan all file sources for content.

Simply press the "Start update" button.

Step #7

Bonus step

Mizuu has a number of settings that impact the search and identification process. Also, when updating your library, you have two options at the top of the screen: "Clear library on update" and "Remove unavailable files".

The first option is fairly self-explanatory: It clears the library before performing the update.

The second option will go through all your current content (movies or TV show episodes), and check if each file is still available. If a file is unavailable, it will be removed from Mizuu's library. This is particularly useful if you tend to delete files after you've watched them.
