Local Docker Setup
The site had a great showing due to a kind stranger's post on Hacker News: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36817851
Although the site had 4500 users in the two days following that post, I noticed few people visited the GitHub, which was a giant missed opportunity to gain contributors. So, I added a link to this GitHub repo on the menu of stemformulas.com, and made it easier to contribute by creating a docker-compose setup. If software-oriented people want to contribute to the site, they don't need to download Hugo or Go, just Docker and Git, which many software developers will already have.
Other additions:
- 12 more formulas
- A Python script that normalizes preview images so that they always fit inside the open-graph preview window when shared on social media
LaTeX Copying!
Version 0.0.2 adds the following features:
- Clicking on Latex elements on formula pages copies their LaTeX to your clipboard, which is a big value add for people who are making formula sheets
- Html formatting fixes
- A simpler google form for suggestions to reduce barrier to contribute
- The tags page now correctly shades tags by their frequency count
- Added 9 formulas
v0.0.1 open-graph previews
This is the first release, so a summary of what is currently implemented:
- A highly modified Hugo template (jpanther/congo) is used as a skeleton to provide page
structure, tagging of content - 42 formulas with LaTeX rendering, aesthetic cards made by Brianxwz, and sources
- A very quick search function on the home page and any sub-pages
- Open-graph meta tags to allow embedded rich-previews to show the formula
- An about page!
- All deployed through Github actions to https://stemformulas.com/formulas/
