Steps:
1. If you don’t have ruby yet, install it based on your platform: www.ruby-lang.org/en/documentation/installation/
2. Install rails
3. Install MySQL WorkBench at dev.mysql.com/downloads/workbench/ if you want a visual of the data
• Setting up work bench
i. Database > Manage Connections
ii. Click “New”
• Connection Name: Enernoc
• Connection Method: Standard (TCP/IP)
• Hostname: localhost; Port: 3306
• Username: root
iii. Close
• Click the “Home” icon and your connection should come up
i. If it asks for a password, give it “admin”
4. Download Postgres.app and place into Application directory
• Specify location of pg_config
i. gem install pg – –with-pg-config=/Applications/Postgres.app/Contents/Versions/9.4/bin/pg_config
• If you run into missing headers problems, try this:
i. gem install pg – –with-pg-include=/Applications/Postgres.app/Contents/Versions/9.4/include/’
5. Put the rails app folder attached to the email in your developers folder
• On my Mac, I left it in my /Developer/enernoc folder
• Unzip it if it’s the zip
6. Open up terminal and do the following:
• Cd into the folder (i.e. cd /Developer/enernoc)
• Run the command “rails s”
• Open another terminal tab and cd into the same folder (i.e. cd /Developer/enernoc)
i. Run the command “bundle”
ii. Run the commands “rake db:create && rake db:migrate”)
7. Open up any internet browser and go to localhost:3000
8. You should now be able to see a page allowing you to input a file and upload it by clicking “Import” (test file: EnernocSmallSampleInput.csv)
9. “See Statistics” will show you all the statistics that was asked for.
