Sprint Planning
Okay...I (leafstorm) haven't worked on the LUG site for a few weeks. So, in order to get it done, make it look awesome, and give us an excuse to hang out, we should have a Web site sprint!
-
We all show up at a place.
-
People split up into teams (probably 1-3 people each) and claim a task.
-
Each team forks the repo and works on their task.
-
When you're done, make a pull request and start working on another task.
-
When enough of the tasks are done, we all go out for dinner and contact OIT to get the DNS for lug.ncsu.edu changed.
-
We have the greatest student organization Web site on campus!
The most important tasks are:
-
Branding: Put our new penguin everywhere! Maybe also improve the stylesheets.
-
Front Page: Improve the homepage, adding more info about the LUG and a calendar of events.
-
Deployment: Get the site running on Short. (This includes re-enabling HTTPS.)
-
User Profile: Add the Biography field. Also, come up with more fun bits.
-
Wiki: ...Write the wiki.
Other tasks that are still part of our current scope, but not necessary to deploy, are:
-
Planet: ...Write the planet.
-
Directory: Create a directory of members. (Allow members to restrict their profile from being displayed to the public.)
-
Channel Log: Get Sha`Bren's log on our site!
-
Notification Bot: Write a channel bot that can deliver site notifications to our IRC channel.
-
Mailing List: Set up an interface for subscribing people to the mailing list from our site. Possibly also allow blog posts to be emailed to the list.
Things that we can try for fun if we have leftover time include:
-
Mailing List Archives: Allow the mailing list archives to be browsed from our site instead of the crappy Majordomo Web interface.
-
Dinner Voting: An interface for voting on where to have dinner!
