## Experiments

**NEWS 12/12/22**: MedPerf also powered the 2022 FeTS Challenge - the largest medical federated learning study - More details at [https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20221205005170/en/](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20221205005170/en/). This page will be updated accordingly once all material will be finalized.
### FeTS Challenge ###

🎯 We pressure-tested MedPerf open benchmark framework by supporting the largest real-world federated study to date [FeTS - that was benchmarking 41 medical AI models across 32 treatment and research sites in 6 continents 🌎](https://miccai2022.fets.ai/) as well as on 🔓 public and 🔒 private data through medical research efforts across Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, University of Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System, University of Strasbourg, Institute of Image-Guided Surgery (IHU Strasbourg), Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, and others with the pilot studies below.

In order to validate MedPerf we performed a series of pilot experiments with academic groups that are involved in multi-institutional collaborations for the purposes of research and development of medical AI models. The experiments were intentionally designed to include a diversity of domains and modalities in order to test MedPerf’s infrastructure adaptance. The experiments included public and private data highlighting the technical capabilities of MedPerf to operate on private data. We also asked participating teams to provide feedback on their experience with MedPerf (e.g., limitations, issues).

Pilot 4 - Cloud Experiments, used data and processes from Pilot 1 and 2.
MedPerf was also further utilized to support academic medical research on both public and private data through efforts across Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, University of Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System, University of Strasbourg, Institute of Image-Guided Surgery (IHU Strasbourg), Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, University of California San Francisco, and other academic institutions.
