GitHub wikis use MathJax to nicely typeset mathematical equations written in TeX. Inline equations are delimited by \( and \). If you want your equation to appear on a separate line, you can use block-style delimiters, which are \[ and \]. For example, the Pythagorean theorem in this syntax is \[a^2 + b^2 = c^2\].
