Initializes the elements before they are used. I received this error when installing this on RPIos from cloning the repository.

Steps to replicate error:
git clone https://github.com/MariaDB/mariadb-connector-c.git
cmake mariadb-connector-c/ -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr
make (this is where the error occured)
sudo make install
