New Features for Challenge Authors
Anyone can create Challenges in MapRoulette. You don't need special permissions or anything. Just go to 'Create' in the main menu, and you will see the admin section where you can create and manage as many Challenges as you like.
We made some of the most significant improvements in this new version of MapRoulette in the Challenge creation and administration sections. We hope the improvements make Challenge creation easier and less error prone. A greatly enhanced metrics and activity view lets you keep close tabs on the progress mappers are making solving the Tasks in your Challenge.
If you have created a MapRoulette Challenge before, you will recognize the step by step wizard.
A live Markdown preview is now included next to Markdown-enabled fields, such as the challenge description and instructions, so you can see exactly how your text will appear to users.
Uploaded GeoJSON files are now instantly validated to help catch common errors quickly rather than having to diagnose problems when your new challenge tasks fail to build.
As with the previous version, a Project is created for you when you first sign in to MapRoulette. Your Project contains all your Challenges. MapRoulette now offers Project-level metrics, to give you an at-a-glance overview of how all your Challenges combined are doing.
Challenge owners can now filter their tasks in real time by status, priority, and location on the map. Tasks are visually clustered on the map by default, but can be unclustered to see individual tasks color-coded by status (up to 1000 tasks at a time).
