How to Join 508.dev | ||

| ||

| ||
We welcome software engineers of all levels, including people interested in becoming engineers, to join us at 508.dev. While usually our client needs require mid-level and senior engineers, we have lately been scooping up some junior-level contracts that we were able to give members with less than 2 years of experience.

| ||

| ||
If you're interested in joining, the best way to do so is email
[email protected]
. After a bit of an email chat to see if you vibe with our values, we'll add you to our slack server, where you can chat with other 508 members. At that point you're welcome to propose open-source projects you'd like to work on and see if anyone else is interested, or, work on a 508 project (listed below). For contracting work, we generally need to be able to accurately assess and communicate your skill level and field (programming languages, libraries, etc) to clients, which means discussing your portfolio with you, or working with you actively on an open-source project, 508 hosted or otherwise.

| ||

| ||
There are some benefits to being a "member" of 508. Our slack server is curated and only has actively working and learning engineers (about 20 of us) that are often helping eachother solve problems that are a little too weird or esoteric or specific to get answered on stack overflow. We also have a VPS that members can use to deploy projects if they'd like. There's also some various other 508 deployed tools that members can use, such as time tracking and invoicing software, meeting schedule software, a password vault, and etc. If we can find a paid client project that a member is a good fit for, we'll get them set up with an @508.dev email.
