FAQ
I'm bad at naming projects, so I took synonyms from the Bandcamp brand.
"Band" becomes "Troupe", and "camp" becomes "tent(s)". Troupetent. Figured it rolled off the tongue well enough.
Troupetent is being developed with broad platform support in mind. In descending order of importance:
- Android
- Linux
- Windows
- MacOS / iPhone
Linux support will likely be offered in the form of a Flatpak.
Windows support is possible, however there are issues that could affect its stability that I'm not comfortable with.
Support for Apple platforms won't happen until I own a Mac. I'm far too poor for that.
If Bandcamp detects your login to be suspicious, it will send you an email with a verification link. In Android 11 and below, Troupetent will open that link for you and log you in. In Android 12, Troupetent can't by default without some work on the user's end.
In Android 12, Google, in their infinite wisdom, added a feature called "Verified Links". To simplify it, any apps on a device running Android 12 can only open a link by default if the website the link leads to allows it. Without it, that link will open in your browser.
"Unverified" apps can still open links, however it requires a user to manually enable support for that link in the app's settings menu. If your device runs Android 12 or higher, Troupetent will show a button to take you to that settings menu where you can do so.
