The purpose of my fork of metro is:

1) Add additional targets. These targets will mainly be openvz containers with additional packages emerged over the base stage3 set. Additionally I plan to add stage4 server and desktop targets in the near future.

2) Customize the keywords. I never run “stable” nor do I run a full “~”. So these modifications will make the builds closer to the systems that I run at home and at work.

3) Use the rsync snapshots and possibly add my layman overlay to the builds.

4) Generate binary packages.

5) Possibly – Add the ability of the user to add more targets by just modifying the files in /etc/metro instead of touching build.sh and other metro code.

6) Also add the ability for the users to customize some of the configuration files while generating the target. For example the dns-target, I can imagine a way in the /etc/metro configuration files that I could have the build automatically add the dns configuration for my work network to the build. So installing a new dns server would be pretty much just the openvz setup of a new container.
