This README details how to track User Stats and graph them with projections
How to enable userStats:
Must have Charm++, built with --enable-tracing flag.
The following must be added to the desired Charm++ program
int traceRegisterUserStat(const char * statName, int e)
-statName = Desired Name for stat in Projections
-e = value used to track stat.
-called once at beginning of code
void updateStat(int e, double stat)
-updates stat to new value
-e = value used to track stat
-stat = new value for the stat
-called many times through code as desired
void updateStatPair(int e, double stat, double time)
-updates stat to new value
-e = value used to track stat
-stat = new value for the stat
-time = user defined time for custom x axis in projections
-will still store real time, so that real/user defined x values can be graphed interchangeably
-called many times through code as desired
flags to add
-tracemode projections
Projections can be built as normal: make
Features:
User stats are properly read and can be viewed in the HTML logfile viewer
User stats can be graphed with the two User Stats Tools in projections
UserStatsOverTime:
Shows the progression of the user stats over the program execution.
Extremely customizable. The user can set:
1) Time and PE range
2) How the PE's are aggregated (sum, min, max, avg)
3) Which X values are used (Wall Time, Ordered, User Specified)
4) Left or Right Y Axis
5) Line color
6) Whether to display lines/points/both
7) Which stat to plot
The user can add many of these and compare them.
Each line can be toggled on and off.
Overall min, max, avg for each stat is given in a table.
SAVING IMAGE:
User can save image as png/jpg using the button on the bottom of the Graph panel.
IMPORTANT: The user can change the titles and other aspects of the graph
by right clicking the graph.
UserStatsPerPE:
Creates a bar graph graphing the overall value (min, max, avg) for each stat on each PE.
Useful for comparing overall performance across PEs.
