Strategies
The GSF Parser contains a Strategy Editor to make it easy to plan things, or plan things for when things don't go as planned. This page provides a short overview and walkthrough of the features.
In order to create a new Strategy, simply press the New Strategy button shown under the list. Enter a name and press OK. Your new Strategy is now created. Note that parent Strategies can only have a description and map. To really get started, double-click your newly created Strategy in the list.
Now you can create a Phase, which is what the Strategies are about. Each Phase can have a unique description and elements on the map. Use the Add Phase button to create the new phase. Enter a name for the Phase and press OK. Now double-click your newly created Phase in the list.
Now you are confronted by an image of the map. On the right, you see a white Textbox in which you can enter a description for this Phase. All the modifications are saved automagically. In order to create a new element, right-click on the map and choose New Item in the menu that appears. Enter a text for the item, choose a color and optionally a font other than default and press Create Item. A new element is now available in the top-left corner of the map Canvas. Drag it to move it around the Map. Right-click and select Delete to remove it from the Phase.
If you do not want to build the same elements over and over again for a single Strategy, you can create a new Phase from an existing one by selecting the Phase you want to copy in the list and then press Add Phase. This will automatically make an independent copy of all items (not the description) in the Phase you had selected.
You can collaborate on Strategies with up to eight people at a time by making use of the Settings panel. One person should run the Strategy Server, having setup a port-forward to his or her PC on the selected port. This will allow the other users to connect to that computer and share their strategies, elements, and edit strategies they all have in real-time with each other. The master of the server will see an additional settings panel to control user permissions and what strategies are shared among all users. Give it a go, it has been tested!
From the settings window as mentioned above, you can also export specific strategies to normal files you can share with your friends. You can import the files from the same menu.
