ruff action fails

The ruff call complaints with

ruff --format=github --ignore=E501,E701,E713,E722,F401,F403,F405,F841 --line-length=263 .
  shell: /usr/bin/bash -e {0}
error: unexpected argument '--format' found

  tip: to pass '--format' as a value, use '-- --format'

Usage: ruff check [OPTIONS] [FILES]...
