What is Hacking?

Whatever you may have heard about hackers, the truth is they do something really, really well: discover. Hackers are motivated, resourceful, and creative. They get deeply into how things work, to the point that they know how to take control of them and change them into something else. This lets them re-think even big ideas because they can really dig to the bottom of how things function. Opensource

Hacking is the process of creating exciting, useful projects. It does not involve things like gaining access to other computers. Hacking can be applied to every aspect of life; it is essentially a lifestyle that encourages activism, collaboration and exploration.

It is our mission as Illini Hackers to encourage an innovative culture around UIUC and Champaign-Urbana as a whole. We indulge in the sharing of ideas, networking, and creative thinking. Join us!

How do I get involved?

The best way to get involved with Illini Hackers is to come out to one of our "Hack Nights" and build stuff with your friends :) If you haven't already, you should also join Illini Hackers on Facebook to receive updates about Illini Hackers events and travel to other Hackathons.
