Planned Features

This page contains the features and changes planned for future versions of the mod.

Planned Changes:


  • Change the colour of the ray gun's beam to be green, to match the item texture.
  • Possibly make the lightning rod's texture/model less busy.
  • Rename obsidian slate tiles to obsidian tiles, to prevent confusion with planned slate.
  • Change unlocalized names to use camelCase to consistent with 'codenames'
  • Register metal blocks, ingots, plates, nuggets etc. in ore dictionary.
  • Register canisters in ore dictionary (canisterSteam, canisterEmpty etc.)
  • Change more things into multiblocks, because I like multiblocks. Plus a entire nuclear furnace fitting into a 1mx1mx1m square seems silly.
  • A 3D Model for drills
  • Possibly a 3D model for the guns/pistols.

Features planned for the near future


  • Cast Iron Railing - basically cast iron bars
  • Slate which spawns underground, in both blue, red and black variants. Can be made into polished slate, slabs, stairs and bricks.
  • 'Gauge pipes' that allow you to see the liquid inside.
  • Pistol variants of the current guns
  • Clockwork weapons, such as a clockwork pistol, rifle and a rapid fire weapon, similar to Terrara's minishark.

  • Cryogenics
  • Retrogen?
  • Steampunk gatling turret!
  • Telsa coils + van De Graph Generators, which can be used for wireless power transmission, and as a trap.
  • Things in Jars, such as organs and fluids. Also possibly insulated jars, which can store the lightning from a lightning rod, similar to Factorization's Leyden jar (and a lightning gun/electrified sword which use these jars as ammunition)
  • Thunderbird Mole like digging machines, which can dig both vertically and horizontally. Take a lot of steam power!
  • Archimedes Cube - which can convert between all the power systems at a (by default) 10% loss, with different faces corresponding to different power systems.
  • Cannon
  • Minecart stuff: Clockwork Minecart, Golden Rail (Larklight style) and possibly a steam train like Railcraft.
  • Typewriters?
  • Deep pile carpet, in green red and gold.
  • Brass diving suits, and quartz/emerald ruins that spawn underwater to explore with them.
  • Pip-Boy type item.
  • Event: Lightning storms on Tesla's birthday.
  • Observatory features, such as a fancy telescope and a Mechanical solar system model thingy.
  • Automata - hopefully to be modular. Two tiers: Clockwork, which is passive, but not that efficient, and Steam-Powered, which must be fed coal and water, or steam directly from a canister, to function. Pretty much a larger, Steampunk equivalent of Thaumcraft Golems. Some special, one purpose machines such as a 'Clockwork Assassin' which can be set to hunt down a specific player and kill them, before self destructing (if PVP is enabled!); A mechanical horse and a Skyrim Midias Magic style Mechanical Spider.
  • Etheric Field Manipulators - reusable enderpearls
  • Spatial Anchors - chunkloading
  • Brass Plaques (like signs, but letters appear engraved)
  • Bombs (Explosive, Incendiary, Nuclear and Chemical)
  • Clockwork Timebomb, with adjustable fuse.
  • Large (Block sized) Brass letters (OBJ modelled, in a font such as American Typewriter)
  • Special capes for mod authors, [contributors] (https://github.com/BrassGoggledCoders/SteamCraft2/blob/master/assets/steamcraft/textures/capes/contrib.png), donors (Will be a diamond gear) and [members] (https://github.com/BrassGoggledCoders/SteamCraft2/blob/master/assets/steamcraft/textures/capes/bb.png) of the Brass Blocks server
  • 'Inner Earth' Dimension, stuffed with ores, and is like an inverted world, ala the classic [Journey to the Center of the Earth] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Journey_to_the_Center_of_the_Earth) Permanent sunlight from an central sun (although too weak to be used for solar power effectively?). Rock will be more compressed, and harder than in the overworld. Species once though to be extinct roam the inner surface (Dinosaurs!). It will be accessible through fissures in the bedrock of the overworld.
  • The Solar System, including a (mostly) empty space dimension called The Ether, populated with Air Kraken, Sky Squid and other exotic flying fish. The air in the Ether is thin, with a respirator a good idea (will be equipped in headgear slot) especially for flying. There will be asteroids, some of the larger versions of which may be inhabited, with Steampunk NPCS such as a Watchmaker, Ether Hunter and Stargazer. Will be based around the [Larklight] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larklight) solar system, and include aliens, living storms, metal moons and possibility of giant spiders.
  • Airships, steam-powered Tanks and possibly Submarines. Will be built as structures (which can spawn in the world) and then the addition of an engine will turn the structure into an entity, if it is a valid structure.
  • Airships that spawn as structures, some occupied by Sky Pirates, and some by peaceful merchants.
  • 'Wanderer' armour
  • Telescope (Zoom without Optifine!)
  • Modular Canes - topper can be made of any metal, and the main body from any wood. Will have a 3D model.
  • Trench Lighter - Fully 3D modelled, highly stylish alternative to the Flint 'n' Steel
  • Mechanical hand?
  • Plasma globes - purely aesthetic.
  • Scalded Lands biome - land of hot mud, full of crash airships and wrecks of steam tanks. Some parts may still be salvageable.
  • Jungle Cutter - Indian Jones style tree clearing machine
  • Vault hatches (like trapdoors) and doors. Possibly will only be opened by hand, not redstone (opposite of iron doors)
  • Cage style lights, similar to Redpower/ProjectRed.
  • Dense Jungle biome - specifically to make the Jungle Cutter fun! Area of very dense jungle.

As you can see, we (especially warlordjones) have a silly amount of ideas.
