TAMUHack 2018

Spencer edited this page Sep 27, 2018 · 1 revision

Thousands of people fly American each and every day. This awesome responsibility leads to awesome opportunities - help us elevate the customer, employee, and company to new altitudes with your innovative hacks...

Rules

We'll pick the top three teams based on the Evaluation Criteria defined below. Attendees and hacks must adhere to all TAMUHack rules and conditions. We reserve the right to perform a technical inspection for any hack.

Themes

We’re most interested in apps using insert technologies that improve these areas of our business:

  • Enhances our customer’s travel experience
  • Boosts operational employee performance (baggage handlers, gate agents, flight attendants, etc...)
  • Enhance American's brand image through other mediums (such as social media)

Types of Hacks

Any kind of hack is welcome but here are a few things that we're particularly excited about:

  • Apps & WebApps
  • Chat Bots
  • VR/AR
  • AI/Machine Learning

Data

Working with mock data served from a backend service is a great way to show off your hack's potential. You can spin up a Node.js AA backend with sample mock data and use that in your app/webapp, use our Mock Engine, anything open-source you can find online, or create your own.

Evaluation Criteria

We'll be looking at the following aspects of your hack when evaluating top hacks for our prizes:

  • Likelihood of your app improving our customer’s experience
  • Commercialization potential of your idea
  • Impact to airline operations
  • Look and Feel: does your hack look good?
  • Functionality: does your hack work?
