As per documentation here: https://docs.bazel.build/versions/main/toolchains.html

Blender could be used as a tooolchain type instead of what is currently being done.

Hey @zaucy, I realized I had the same idea for rules_blender and implemented it independently! However yours exposes many more rendering options which is awesome.

Regardless, I have implemented some rudimentary tool chains in my version that you might be able to draw inspiration from (or just copy it they're sufficient 😁): wmmiii/rules_blender

haha I didn't expect someone else to make bazel rules for blender! It's not a very typical use case.

I'll take a look at your toolchain setup. I haven't had these rules on my priority list recently so I haven't been too active. If you're interested in combining forces I could make you a maintainer.

Ultimately I'd like to submit rules_blender to the bcr with toolchain support and possibly get the repository moved to the bazelbuild org or the bazel-contrib org.
