Hi, I've found some missing US traffic signs. Is there a good way for me to contribute them? I found public domain SVGs on wikicommons, I guess it's a matter of exporting them to PNGs, but I'm new to JOSM and don't understand all the data formats yet.

Hi, you can afford these traffic signs in SVG and the code for the traffic sign you will find in the law, even if it is about a state only. Thanks.

There are more than I anticipated... 350, counting only the R-series regulatory signs from the MUTCD! I hope this isn't too intimidating of a task, let me know if I can help. Most of these were found on Wikimedia Commons with the exception of a few I upoaded myself. They are all released in the public domain.

A few naming conventions were introduced on signs without unique MUTCD codes:

  • I added "Double" when there is a double arrow (as opposed to [L]eft or [R]ight arrows).
  • (OK) is added for variants with the word "OK", e.g. MUTCD_R3-6L_(OK).svg.
  • A few roundabout signs are labelled with (Circular Intersection n).
  • (HOV) is used for signs that differ only by adding the HOV diamond symbol.
  • (Swapped) is used in one case where only the order of figures on the sign changes.
  • (This Lane) is used for one sign with a forward arrow, instead of left or right diagonal.
  • For HOV signs have "2 lane" variants, I used the suffix L2 and R2.
  • A few signs have yellow or fluorescent green variants, I added F to indicate the fluorescent e.g. MUTCD_R10-15LF.svg. The yellow variant is shown in the MUTCD, which is why I made the other a special case.

Also, ideally the distance-based signs would have the numbers replaced by "X", to be as generic as possible (e.g. US_R11-3a.png), but I haven't done that yet.

Most temporary/construction signs have been omitted for now.
