Docs: Problems with How to Create Virtual Servers page #837
Comments
The main reason I was unsure how to create a new top level server is because I found the strip of icons representing the various options across the top of the 'Create Virtual Server' page confusing. Top level server, sub-server etc are laid out in a horizontal strip of icons which made me think vmin might be doing all those actions at once. It would've been clearer to me if the different server type options / windows were selected from a drop down menu. |
Hello, Thanks for the heads up!
I'm afraid that putting it in the dropdown would only create more confusion. I think it's better to have all options laid out and easily accessible. |
Yeah I don't think rearranging that would be worth the effort but thought it was worthwhile explaining why it confused me. |
Thank you for sharing this, Dan! We will consider it when reworking the UI in the future. |
I am trying to follow the advice being given here:
https://forum.virtualmin.com/t/webmin-webserver-options/127510/3
They requested I create a new virtual server and I wasn't sure if they wanted me to create a new top level server but the link to that page is broken on this page:
https://www.virtualmin.com/docs/getting-started/how-to-create-virtual-servers/
I think it would help to include a screenshot of where the relevant option (Create Virtual Server) is located. I'd imagine it differs depending on the user logged in, if its a subdomain or a top level server?
This page doesn't mention anything about permissions and users. I expect the master admin has more or different options to regular users?
Including a command line example for creating a new domain would be useful too.
