is HLS error Normal ?

I'm Trying to play a m3u8 url but after sometime when the player is buffering i get a hls error and it ends up buffering for a long time , maybe because it's prioritizing 1080p but 720p would have been better (in my opinion),

Also if i change the player src to an empty array or string , then wait for an api call to set the new src passing it through useState , the player takes a really long time to load the new m3u8 url , sometimes getting stuck at the buffering screen

also when stuck at the buffering screen ,lets say i click a new hls url , the previous loaded media (the one stuck at buffering) starts playing momentarily , i dont know if its a bug .
