Optron Mini User Guide

Plug It In

• Attach micro USB cable into the micro USB port of the Optron Mini
• Attach the other end of the USB cable into your computer

Open the Mini App:

Open the following (User) > Documents > Max 8 > Library > Optron > __OptronMiniApp.maxpat

1. Click the Query Ports button at the top
2. Set your port by clicking the dropdown menu and choosing the USB serial or comport associated with your Optron Mini (usbmodemxxx)
3. Click the toggle to enable the application
4. If data looks scrambled (rare) click the reset me button

You will see sensor data streaming on all the green windows. Tilt the Optron and use your fingers on the sensors to get a feel for the instrument.

Click the Toggle Rainbow LED Sweep to confirm Optron LEDs function. Optron Mini has 45 LEDs, but this can be changed to any number for customization. You can divide the Line sensor into n discrete zones (frets) by changing the Num Frets value. Clicking the MIDI Out button will reveal the MIDI output panel. OSC settings may be changed in the fields on the bottom.
