Minimal reproduce step

Create Gmail app out of gmail.com with name and icon parameters.
Install and run Gmail.
Log into account
Open any email with a PDF attachment
Click PDF attachment thumbnail to open using the built-in PDF previewer.

What did you expect to see?

The PDF should preview fine without any unnecessary popup.

What did you see instead?

PDF opens fine, but it also adds a tab to the default browser attempting to open the attachment and resulting in Temporary Error (404).

Anything else?

This doesn't seem to occur with images. Would be great if some extra code could prevent this unnecessary tab from opening.
