Home-manager configuration not applied

Dear all,

I have created a version of srid/nixos-config with my configurations. https://github.com/mi-skam/nix-config. Exectung nix run runs without an issue, but the configuration part of home-manager does not get applied. As the level of abstraction is rather opaque to me, I am not sure how to tackle the debug.

Can anybody have a look at my repo and give me a hint, why it's not working? Or any other directions how to get help / help my self.

p.s. I am running nix on Darwin on my Macbook Pro with a M1 processor.

Building it crashes nix for me (segfault):

Wonder if this is related to srid/nixos-config#31

Ah, so it does.

It wasn't obvious this was crashing from the output. But it was in fact an error in both cases.

May I ask how your config is different from this reproduction? Is it using the older version of flake-parts?

Yes, you can check the flake.lock file for revision.

I can confirm that it works with the earlier flake parts. Using the same revision as you, and updating the inherits.

If i update to use the latest version, without updating the inherit inputs i get:

Please pass the output function arguments. For example:

    outputs = inputs@{ flake-parts, ... }:
      flake-parts.lib.mkFlake { inherit inputs; } { /* module */ };

To avoid an infinite recursion, *DO NOT* pass `self.inputs` and
*DO NOT* pass `inherit (self) inputs`, but pass the output function
arguments as `inputs` like above.

Once updated to be inherit inputs; i get:

So it seems, either way that using darwinModules here doesn't work with the latest flake-parts. If darwinModules is present a segfault occurs. I see that darwinModules was removed from flake-parts just after the version you are using in your repository. I wonder if that has some effect.

My logical feeling though is that this seems to be localised to darwinModules, which I think only this module has knowledge of (not flake-parts) - so perhaps the issue is somewhere in here? Though maybe I'm just not seeing something.

Thanks for the discussion and fix in #34, @mi-skam! I was trying to migrate a homegrown flake to use flake-parts, and was getting the same segfault until switching to your fork.

It looks like @srid has merged a different fix for this into the main repository now. It's a rename to darwinModules_. I'm not sure why this method is preferred over mine, there was no discussion of that. I'll leave my fork up, though I am considering just pulling out what I need from this and having it locally in my own nixos config as I don't use the majority of the features within it.
