I.e., use GitHub actions to update a value that's accessible by a shields.io badge or similar (i.e., similar to "tests passing" badge). Or maybe tests passing would be sufficient

Might consider separating the tests from the public demo.

Alternatively, this badge could be renamed to public demo: active vs. offline or similar.

Maybe better to also expose a badge or rename this one to state whether the demo is active or not
