Project maintainance (beginners') question

Hello there,
First of all, I am pretty impressed with this great project. Kudos!

I was able to follow the installation instructions, use the software, and started playing with the API. As I am considering using this for a project, I wanted to know if there are any pointers for how this project is being maintained.

1. One of my main observations is the use of Node 10, which seems to not be a maintained version of the platform. I imagine that this impacts the longevity of Spacedeck... I guess because I am not a specialist on Node, how difficult is it to upgrade it, plus, how high of a priority should that be?
2. I imagine the same question can be asked about library upgrades. I imagine that developers mode to newer versions of Node and drop support to older versions, right?
3. It seems that there are some Pull Requests open and Issues to be tackled... Is this the most current and active repository on that front?
