Hi, there, not sure if this is the right place to ask, I want to know whether you have a plan to integrate the offchain ipfs functionality to Substrate officially? Otherwise, no one can actually use it in their project IMHO.

@aphelionz I just want to point out that we would still be highly interested in supporting this project via grants and getting it up to speed with the latest substrate version. More and more teams are actually interested in this.

Definitely food for thought @Noc2 !

Actually, it's only really useful when the feature is merged into the upstream repo and will be maintained actively IMHO. Any chance to integrate it into substrate officially?

That depends on quite a few ducks being in a row - first, we would need to finish the work in rs-ipfs, detailed at https://areweipfsyet.rs. Alternatively we could create a new type of node specifically for Substrate. Then it would need to make it through a successful PR at paritytech/substrate which would be no small feat for a changeset of this size.
