Feature: Proxy only for specific package / Registry "uplink"

I have one package specifically I'd like to install using a http proxy. Is it possible to do this? It's confusing because config supports on a per-module basis within "packages" a "proxy" field, but this maps to an "uplink", and individual uplinks don't have proxys. I Would love this feature if it exists already, please share how it works.
