Tidy the on*Change functions

Look up a way to tidy up the (millions of) on*Change functions.

There was a way to look up the state to change by the element which called it, I think?

Also (relatedly) check whether there's a better way to do the *.bind(this) crap - takes up a lot of lines, surely there's something better?
