3DS XL: Touch controls and START don't seem to be working

I'm using DSlibris on a 3DS XL (using files from here, not Universal Updater. Installation is at SD card root). Touch controls don't seem to be working, stylus or not. For example, I can't choose or open books by tapping on them, nor can I flip pages by tapping on any side of the touchscreen.
Pressing START to open a book also doesn't seem to be working.
(I'm not sure if this is a bug or the Quickstart is outdated.)

Yes, every other button works as intended.

feels like time to try to build this code with the 3ds toolchain, it might help here.
right now everyone is running a DS app which the 3DS has to eumlate or something.

took a look at the differences between the 3ds and nds workflows. if I can get some positive results in Citra it's feasible to try to make a .3dsx target now. needs more portlibs.

Regarding ports, tinyxml2 might stand in for libexpat and freetype2 already exists. Not bad.
But let me stop talking about a port here and link this to a project that considers such a port.

BTW @asshuka did you ever try the dslibris that is in Universal Updater? I'm wondering if that one even works.

To answer my question: the Universal Updater installation will work if the contents of the dslibris folder are moved to the root of the SD card. I would like the Universal Updater maintainers to fix this.
