I am the packager of terraform for the Fink packaging system (a Mac OS X
project, see
<finkproject.org/> and also
<http://pdb.finkproject.org/pdb/package.php/terraform>).
Since terraform was recently updated to 0.9.5, I decided to upgrade the Fink
package
accordingly. This went mostly fine, but I run into some issues, which I believe
will also affect
other distributions.
Foremost, terraform-src-0.9.5.tgz is missing the file "depcomp". I work around
this by patching
a copy of this file in (other fixes would include running automake, etc. but
this one is easiest for
me for various reasons). It would be good if the next release would include
this again.
Some other minor things are also "annoying", but harmless: It seems that the
"standard" for
naming source tar balls these days is
NAME-VERSION.tar.gz
so normally I would have expected
terraform-0.9.5.tar.gz
which is what 95% of open source software out there uses. But then again, it's
not a fixed rule,
and if you prefer the other, so be it.
Another minor issue is that the directory contained in this tarball is named
"terraform", which
conventionally, the name matches the tarball name, so I would have expected
terraform-src-0.9.5
Fink assumes this name by default, but luckily it is possible to override this
default aassumption.
If the tarball was named according to the usual scheme, of course the dir
should be named
terraform-0.9.5
instead.
Thanks for resuming work on terraform!
