Clarification on sample/website code

I am trying to put together an exception handler as described in the handbook on your site. I have downloaded your samples repos but I cannot get it to compile. Specifically in the handler registration DisplayAlert() is mentioned and I cannot find it's definition anywhere either on the website or the entire samples repo It's called but does not exist. What am I missing.
