there are a couple of things that I don't understand:

according to Update development and CI configurations #95 (comment), this package is obsolete in Plone, 5 why we are maintaining a 2.0 branch here?
also, why 1.x branch is not master?

afaik plone.app.widgets is (should) not (be) part of Plone 5 at all since it was merged to plone.app.z3cform in plone/plone.app.z3cform@6eb2ebd
