The QQ plot renders all residuals, which is impractical for models fitted to large datasets. Moreover, this generates needlessly large figure files.

Solution: reduce the number of points by dividing the x-axis into uniform segments, with only 1 point per segment. Users can specify the horizontal resolution to obtain the desired accuracy.
