Why are Header & Footer components in <Virtuoso /> wrapped in bare divs?

I have a <Virtuoso /> component like this:

When I inspect the DOM, there's a bare <div> wrapping <NewPostEditor /> like so

The same happens for Footer but not for List. If this isn't just happening in my code, is this intentional? Is there a way to prevent this?
