Cannot find module 'entities/dist/decode.js' from 'node_modules/@vue/compiler-core/dist/compiler-core.cjs.js'

It appears that the vue package relies on an external dependency called entities. In the entities package, the decode.js file is missing from the dist folder.

However, the entities package has been updated and now contains two sub-folders, commonjs and esm, within the dist folder,

where decode.js can be found. The @VUE package has not yet updated its path to reflect these changes.

I Need a solution for the same

The same problem here. My Jest unit tests are failing due to the Cannot find module 'entities/dist/decode.js' from 'node_modules/@vue/compiler-core/dist/compiler-core.cjs.js error.

Hey buddy, suffering with the same issue... i'm upgrading my vue js project from node 14 to node 18 and I'm having this error too

I'm on Node version 20.9.0 & npm version 10.1.0, also during upgrade, but vuejs & its dependencies. Being on these Node/npm versions with older vuejs & its dependencies didn't cause any issues.

This worked from me : I set @vue/compiler-core & @vue/compiler-dom to 3.4.27 in the package.json WITHOUT the ^ !

Apparently you have to lock your vue, @vue/compiler-core, @vue/compiler-dom to 3.4.27 version which works fine until vue fixes this.

Since I didn't declare the entities in package.json, and Vue is internally using vue/compiler-core which relies on entities, I'm unable to update the path for these dependencies.

As a temporary fix, I've set the Vue version to 3.4.27 without the caret (^) to prevent automatic updates.

I'm looking for a permanent solution to this issue.

Switching the version to 3.4.27 without ˆ also worked for me!

It worked for some of my unit tests, which is already a success! Sadly, for the majority of them still seen the same error :( I've also updated dependencies of my dependencies to rely on this version, but the same result.

I had to use overrides in package.json to finally get rid of the problem:

Did you update the Vue version to 3.4.27 in the package.json? This should resolve the issue.
