pnpm publish -r always leads to ENEEDAUTH

I'm trying to publish a few packages from my monorepo to NPM. I've got this Github Workflow:

      - name: Publish packages on NPM
        run: pnpm publish -r --no-git-checks

Unfortunately I always get the following error:

npm ERR! code ENEEDAUTH
npm ERR! need auth This command requires you to be logged in to https://registry.npmjs.org/
npm ERR! need auth You need to authorize this machine using `npm adduser`

I've tried so many things:

• Setting the registry in the setup-node action
• Using pnpm config set
• Removing the .npmrc

With NPM it always works, but then I need to write a script going through all the packages.

Does somebody have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thank you! Pushing packages to the registry is now working. Oddly I am not seeing releases/tags created in the repo.

Maybe it has something to do because your root package is private. I've been struggling with the same before: changesets/changesets#1193

Thanks for taking a look. That doesn't seem to have fixed it. I think there something wrong with the tag creation even though it looks successful:

npm notice
npm notice Publishing to https://npm.pkg.github.com/ with tag latest and default access
+ @jacksonneal/[email protected]
/usr/bin/git push origin --tags
Everything up-to-date

Maybe I should be creating a tag, changesets doesn't?

Ah, maybe because you are not calling changeset tag?
