When using Super+<number> to switch between windows, thumbnails are shown for a set duration after the press of <number>. This is awkward because if you want the thumbnails to hide quickly after releasing then they just flash by when pressing, but if you want to see the thumbnails while pressing then they will take time to hide after releasing.
I believe the way that Windows does it solves this conundrum: show the thumbnails indefinitely while Super is held down and hide them when Super is released. That way, the thumbnails stay visible as long as you're still using the shortcut but hide as soon as you've finished using it, which lends to a snappier experience.
