LOL And now it won't find either of my M557 bluetooth mice. Sigh |

Oi. So I've installed Resilio-Sync per these instructions: https://www.linuxbabe.com/ubuntu/install-resilio-sync-btsync-ubuntu I've synced a single folder to start. To say the wifi speeds are lethargic would be a complement. I've got a VERY robust Ubiquiti wi-fi system, so this is down to the implementation. Again, I had NONE of these issues with Zorin. yikes |

Ok, all seems to have settled down. Mouse reconnects, wi-fi speeds reasonable. Still takes a long time to boot. |

So,
To preface, I've had Horus installed on a desktop since it was introduced. It was were I learned (mostly) about life in Linux-land. All is good there.
I've got an old Dell XPS 13 9333 that I was running Zorin on, until yesterday. Truth be told, I had installed it to see if it was a viable alternative to EOS. Short story, it's not. A plethora of reasons. Saying all that, it worked flawlessly, with one minor exception. The screen brightness daemon would flash on and off occasionally.
In doing some spelunking around I saw a post about installing Pantheon on other distro's. Great, I'll do that until v8.0 shows up.
Well, long story short, I completely buggered up the install. Dunno what I did, irrelevant now.
So, I'll just install EOS I thought.
My first thougt was to instal v7.0 as I already had that ISO. Well, that was definitely sub-optimal. Can't go into a lot of detail, but it was clear that was a non-starter.
So I downloaded v7.1.
First time through wanting to install, it died in the drive format stage. Can't continue, can't tell you what's wrong.....
OK, pull out the trusty gparted live usb, delete the partitions and go from there.
This time I go through the install. I do not choose the proprietary driver option.
First thing I notice is my bluetooth mouse won't reconnect upon reboot. I also notice it takes FOREVER to boot. Far longer than Zorin.
Everything eventually gets settled out, and I get through the various update/reboot episodes and I'm done.
My Logitech M557 mouse is "connected" but not working. I open the bluetooth panel and I see the mouse connecting, disconnecting, connecting, disconnecting.... H'mm. I have to go into the daemon, delete the connection and reconnect. Decidedly sub-optimal.
Looking around, I notice is web is not installed. H'mmm, odd as that wasn't the case last time I did a fresh install. Okay, I go to the applications tool and search for Brave. Not there, you'll have to go to flathub. Ok.
Install web so I can go to flathub. Search for brave, copy the install text, and past it into a terminal.
error: No remote refs found similar to 'flathub'
Whisky Tango Foxtrot?
All the verbiage I'm reading, here, on the blog and on Reddit is we live and die via flatpaks. But the tools to use flatpaks are not included in the distro? Does this make any sense whatsoever?
I've just started this process, and will document my installations efforts in detail until I'm done.
Stay tuned
