Licensing #2
Comments
Sorry, I don't know what all the open source license details are. However, I hereby give permission to you or anyone else to do frankly whatever you want with this as long as you attribute credit to me for my portion of the code in anything you publish. Feel free to edit it, re-distribute it, incorporate it intro your own project and sell it... anything. |
OK, thanks. I'm no legal expert either, so a look at https://choosealicense.com/licenses/ may help you. My 2 cents is that MIT might be OK for you - it can be used for any purpose, incl commercial, does not require source code publishing and waives you of liability for errors etc. It does require that your license text is passed on to attribute your contributions to you. https://choosealicense.com/licenses/mit/ |
MIT seems like a good fit. It's the most common license I've seen for open-source projects. (well, of those that aren't copyleft/"infectious" like the GPL, ie. requiring apps to use the same license -- the website @aloneinkyoto linked to above gives a good summary of the options) I might still go with this library since it's more compact, but for others who need a library with an explicit license, here is one other I found for Java/Kotlin in MIT that seems to also be built for the latest LAN api: https://github.com/flowsprenger/RxLifx-Kotlin |
What kind of licence is this code released under?
