There were a few topics recently in the forum. Not sure if all is related ... https://help.nextcloud.com/t/nextcloud-desktop-client-very-slow/181139 |
Hi. Have a look at #4918 and please resport your observations if you are willing to help testing. I have almost 7 fold upload speed increase from 20MB/s to arond 140 MB/s. Regards Rob |

Tried the test build in that thread and it makes no obvious difference. |
As posted above, we've seen this and reported a bug a while ago. Nextcloud seems to have 0 interest in fixing the issue or improving their client. A real shame. It's painfully slow... I am constantly fighting annoying issues like slow transfers, browser giving me 502 errors (large file issues) and more. I've updated to the latest version and am disheartened to see that these are still issues after 2 major version updates. |
Same problem. NC web-gui allows downloading files at ~2.3Gbps on the local network, Nextcloud Desktop client has a maximum speed of 700Mbps when working locally. There are a lot of posts on the forum about low speed of the client, but the developers don't seem to pay attention to it (some threads are 2+ years old). |
@claucambra Could this issue be given higher priority? The performance disparity between the desktop client and the web client on the same server setup is significantly impacting our workflow. Thank you! |
Bug description
As title. There's a lot of issues I've gone through trying to get proper 2.5gbe local ethernet speeds with nextcloud, however the problem seems to be inherant to the design of nextcloud, and is just something you have to live with.
However that's irrelevant to this - both pointed to the same nextcloud server, with the same DNS settings etc, the Owncloud windows client is over twice as fast than the nextcloud one. Which seems.... pretty disappointing lol.
Steps to reproduce
Expected behavior
Should be the same speed. Or, really, NC should be faster.
