Tutorials outdated. How to get started?

HI all,
I discovered OpenMCT recently and really want to use it in my Digital Twin project for a planetary rover. I followed the tutorials and managed to send my telemetry data to OpenMCT. However I then realized that the version of OpenMCT in the tutorials is very outdated.

I want to use the latest version with its great functionalities, but the API is very different from the one in the tutorials, so I do not know where to start. I managed to install my own plugin, but I have no idea how to implement the server side and send telemetry data (even random mockup data). Can somebody help me?
