MDOYVR 2023 Release: MunkiReport is now Python 3 based

IMPORTANT CHANGES You will need to install Mac Admins Python 3.10 first on the client or MunkiReport will not run. Download it from https://github.com/macadmins/python/releases/tag/v3.10.9.80716

MunkiReport now fully supports PHP 8 and has been tested with PHP 8.2. PHP 7 is no longer supported, but may continue to work.

MODULE UPDATES All Python based modules have been updated to have a Python 3 based script.

Maintenance release to fix the issue of Apple removing python from macOS 12.3.

Security release

This release patches a couple of issues found by the Datadog security team. The issues concern actions taken by authenticated users and vary from XSS vulnerabilities to SQL injection. Please update to the latest version of MunkiReport as soon as possible.

5.4.0 (April 29, 2020) 🧹

This release adds the ability to archive a machine. Two filter options have been added: 'Show archived' and 'Only show archived' to control which machines are shown. The bluetooth module got a serious overhaul from @tuxudo. If you run migrations, it will wipe your current bluetooth data to make room for a slew of BT goodness. You will need to push out a new client installer package to make use of the new features.

Some small fixes for regressions introduced by the latest releases. Futher YAMLfcation of views and configurations.

Note: MR changed a couple of filenames to Uppercase - people on CaSE iNsensiTive filesystems should check if everything is ok after upgrading.

5.3.1 🌭

This release fixes two minor security issues found by Datadog: a Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability and a fix for PHP and Apache version information leakage in the Docker container. The PHP version display in the header is fixed for everyone, the server version display you need to fix in your own server if you care about it.

This release changes the way MunkiReport runs on the client. MunkiReport now has it's own launchDaemon, which means that it will no longer take up time when munki runs it's pre- and postflight scripts. The MunkiReport scripts have moved to /usr/local/munkireport MunkiReport log files are now found in /Library/MunkiReport/Logs/

To take advantage of the new scripts, create a new client package and distribute to your munki clients.

IMPORTANT MunkiReport does not run scripts in /usr/local/munki/preflight.d, /usr/local/munki/postlight.d and /usr/local/munki/preflight_abort.d anymore! If you depended on these locations, please consider creating your own implementation for these. Also note that MunkiReport will not clean up the legacy directories.

3.0.0 (February 07, 2018)

The third major version of munkireport attempts to solve a couple of longstanding issues concerning security, dependency management and database management. We're moving slowly to using eloquent as replacement for the KISS database abstraction. A ton of work has been done by @mosen to make this all work.

Most notable changes are:

  • Minimum PHP version is 7.0
  • Document root is now in a directory called /public. The best practice is to serve your munkireport instance from this directory or make a symlink to this directory.
  • If you install munkireport via the commandline, you need to install all dependencies first via composer
  • There is a new database configuration format $conf['connection']. See config_default.php on how to use it.
  • Database migrations (also the initial ones) are not running automatically. You need to run migrations via the commandline tool php database/migrate.php
