Signing up for an account should be as easy as possible, meaning ‘social login’ (sign in via Reddit, GitHub, Discord, Google etc.) ought to be an option.
After having signed up, it should be super easy to login/signup to any other site in a Lemmy network-of-trust.

There’s prior art for (2) in Mastodon:
