There are some categories that can be either an expense or an income. For example, when filling a tax return, the outcome can be either paying or receiving. As a user, I would like to have an expense category named "Taxes", and also an income category named "Taxes". However, this is not possible currently.
There are other examples of such use case. For example, for money that I get/pay to friends (e.g., someone/me organizing a party and buying the stuff), I would like to have again both an income and an expense category called "Friends".

@mtotschnig I believe keeping them separate makes more sense, since a specific entry will be either an expense or an income, but not both.
Also, I think the UX would be a bit awkward, since both expense and income would be selected when choosing the category, but then the amount would again be either an expense or an income.
