Disappearing messages setting with linked devices

Bug description

There's a bug when you have 1 or more linked devices. It happens when disappearing messages are turned on, and you receive a new message that creates a new chat.
You don't get a notification when message is received as Molly opens the chat. Sends a blank media message, and leaves the sender on read.

It also happens to messages currently open when any of the linked devices or the host devices locks the app or the device reboots

Running grapheneos

I believe it's because disappearing messages settings are saved locally. So the blank media message is molly pushing that info to all the devices. But I keep leaving people on read.
Turning disappearing messages off helps. But friends are getting annoying that I keep turning it off and they want it on.

Steps to reproduce

1. Link 1 or more android devices.
   2.turn disappearing messages for new chats to preferred time
   3.receive a new mssage from someone who has the convos disappearing message time already set.
