Remote Monitoring for all those MODX installations out there "in the field" #55

Do you know all your MODX websites, their version, and if all extras are up to date? How many 2.2.15 need to be updated to 2.2.16? Which installs need an update to SimpleSearch 1.9.2 to fix certain bugs? Honestly, I don't. I am lost in the 1001 MODX systems.
I would like to have a remote monitoring script that reports to a certain monitoring instance about all these things going on at a website. Sure, security is an issue here, because it should not be used by an unauthorized intruder who wants to spy on the system.
Still, having a not up to date MODX in the field can cause real damage if a site gets hacked. Updating is mandatory, but you need to know, where an update is needed.

+1, already working on something like that in my mind (since 2 years unfortunately). Would be a remote api for #31 somehow.
But monitoring involes some more, e.g.:

  • see long query/rendering on installations
  • observe certain changes (new users etc)
  • grep in the log file for something
    ...
